This week we have a featured on post on leading UK yoga trainer Wayne Léal. Wayne has gained an enviable reputation as a mind and body educator to champions of sport and as a lifestyle motivational speaker at Champneys the top UK spa, beauty and wellness centre.
Wayne has devised two training programmes that have a growing reputation for their dramatic and life-changing results.
First, is JumpGa (www.jumpga.com) – endorsed by the Yoga Alliance Professionals is a Yoga Hybrid combining Yoga Asana and jumping on a rebounder.
KunAqua is a low-impact water based programme: increasing, mobility and all-round strength whilst minimising the risk of injury or undue stress on the joints.
After cheating death three times and injuring nearly every major joint of his body in motorbike accidents, sport and martial arts, Wayne personally knows only too well how transformative a yoga-based training programme is to a powerful recovery. Also, he is a champion of the anti-ageing effects of yoga.
He says: “We have two ages – our actual age and a body age – and it’s our lifestyles that affect how we age. Everyone can have a good body in their 20s. Few can boast still having the body of a 20-year-old once in their 40s, but they can aspire to it.”
The true benefit of looking good on the outside is what is happening when you give your body the attention it needs, affirms Wayne. The precept of Wayne’s pioneering training is based on the Transtheoretical Model of Behavioural Change, a 35-year empirical study that conceptualises the process of intentional behavioural change.
JumpGa is currently being piloted at David Lloyd’s and taught by trainers at Champneys, whose Wellness Director Louise Day says: “I see more fitness choices than ever before. HIIT or resistance workouts? Calisthenics or virtual boxing? Wellness or mindfulness? Group fitness classes have evolved markedly in recent years, and this is reflected in the wide range of group classes we offer at Champneys. My job is to choose a training programme that has a wider future for people’s physical and mental wellbeing. I see JumpGa as the complete training programme that will take exercise to a new level because it’s a total body programme that can be adapted to all ages and levels of fitness”.
